BioBanking Assessors Course
In applying for biobanking agreements and biobanking statements, landowners and developers will have to engage an accredited BioBanking Assessor to undertake biodiversity credit calculations for submission with the application. This accreditation is issued after successful completion of the BioBanking Assessors Course. This course is available to ecological consultants, DECC and CMA staff, and other individuals who satisfy the accreditation criteria and are interested in applying the Biobanking Assessment Methodology to undertake biodiversity credit calculations.
The BioBanking Assessors Course is a four-day course that will cover an overview of the BioBanking Scheme, the improve or maintain test, including identification of red flag areas, site and landscape assessment. The course will include theory and practical exercises, and assessment tasks for those seeking accreditation.
It is expected that participants will have a working knowledge of flora and fauna survey, identification and assessment, and GIS skills. The course will not provide any specific training in these areas. DECC will be running additional information and training courses for landholders and developers wishing to participate in the BioBanking Scheme and for public authorities to gain a better understanding of how the scheme fits in with the planning and approvals process.
The course fee is $1850 (ex-GST) including accreditation or $1500 (ex-GST) without accreditation per person. There will be a maximum of twelve places at each training course.
