Biodiversity assessment tools

The BioBanking Credit Calculator (the calculator), Vegetation Types Database, Vegetation Benchmarks Database and Threatened Species Profile Database (TSPD) are used for assessing developments and biobank sites under the BioBanking Scheme.

The calculator is a software program that applies the methodology and calculates the number and classes of credits required at a development site or created at a biobank site.

The Vegetation Types Database contains vegetation types that were developed for each of the 13 Catchment Management Authority (CMA) areas.

The Vegetation Benchmarks Database identifies the range of quantitative measures that represent the benchmark condition for the vegetation type.

The TSPD contains information for all listed threatened species, populations and communities such as their habitat characteristics, range, response to management actions, life history strategies, survey requirements, and ability to withstand loss in numbers and extent. This data is built into the calculator, as well as being available in database form.
