Lead Environmental Community Groups Program

The Lead Environmental Community Groups (LECG) program aims to assist eligible lead environmental community organisations in NSW by contributing towards their administrative costs. This particular program is the only Trust program to offer this type of support.

 

Objective of the LECG Program

The objective of the LECG program is to provide administrative funds to assist eligible lead environmental community organisations in NSW to value, conserve and protect the natural environment through:

  • Actively involving the community in projects to protect and enhance the natural environment;
  • Raising community awareness and understanding of, and gathering information on, environmental issues with a view to bringing about behavioural change across the community;
  • Being effective advocates in expressing the community's environmental concerns; and
  • Being actively involved in program and policy development initiatives with governments.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants are required to meet specific criteria as outlined in the LECG Guidelines.

Future Grants

It is expected that the Trust will not call for further applications to this program until 2009.

 

Funding for 2006 - Closed

The Trust committed a total of $0.3 million per annum to the program, with total funding of $0.9 million over three years. Competition for funds for the Lead Environmental Community Group (LECG) grants program was very high.  In the 2006 grants round, 28 applications were received requesting $3.83 million. The Trust approved 11 grants totalling $0.9million. A list of successful applicants is available on the 2006 LECG Grants page.

The LECG program opened for applications on Saturday 19 August 2006, and closed at 5pm on Friday 15 September.
